Each candle is blended with cruelty-free fragrance oils inspired by the natural world. The wax is 100% free from paraffin, soy, palm and synthetic additives, chosen because it burns cleanly, holds scent beautifully and sits gently in a room without overwhelming it. Clean-burning cotton wicks, careful curing, smooth tops - nothing here is rushed.

The candles are named after British butterfly species: the Red Admiral, the Painted Lady, the Common Blue, the Orange Tip, the Peacock. Each name carries a quiet intention. A reminder that small, beautiful things deserve protecting.

Every Burning Butterfly candle is made with a blend of rapeseed and coconut wax. Both are plant-based and completely free from paraffin, soy, palm, beeswax and synthetic additives. Rapeseed wax is UK-grown, and the blend is chosen for its clean burn and strong, natural scent throw.

How long do Burning Butterfly candles burn?

Each candle has an approximate burn time of 40 hours. The candles are 30cl and contain 220g of wax, hand-poured in small batches by Jo. To get the best burn life, allow the wax to melt to the edges on the first burn and keep the wick trimmed to around 5mm.

Are Burning Butterfly candles safe to burn indoors?

Yes. All candles are made with clean-burning cotton wicks and plant-based rapeseed and coconut wax, which produce significantly less soot than paraffin candles. As with all candles, burn on a heat-resistant surface, keep away from draughts and never leave unattended.
