Candle Care & Safety

Candles

To ensure candle safety and maximise your candle's lifespan, please follow the care and safety instructions below

  • Remove all outer packaging
  • Place on a heat resistant, stable surface away from flammable materials
  • Keep the candle away from drafts, children and pets and never leave your candle unattended
  • Burn your candle for 4 hours on the first burn to ensure an even melt pool and avoid tunnelling
  • Do not burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time
  • Keep the wax pool clean of any wick trimmings or matches
  • User a candle snuffer to put out the flame
  • Allow the candle to cool before relighting
  • Trim the wick to 5mm before each burn to prevent smoking, sooting and uneven burning.  Our wicks are self trimming but they may need trimming before each burn.
  • Discontinue use of the candle when there is 1cm of wax remaining at the bottom

There may be some unevenness in the cooled wax after burning - this is completely normal and part of the burning process of natural wax.  It doesn't affect the quality or lifespan of the candle so please do not worry - embrace the lumpiness!

Dispose of your spent wax responsibly in accordance with your local guidelines - do not pour down the drain or put in compost.

When you have finished with your candle the glass container can be recycled (in line with your local guidelines) or simply wash the jar in warm soapy water to reuse and repurpose (once the wax has been removed).

Please see CLP label on the bottom of your candle for a full list of allergens and product ingredients.  You can also view our Product Ingredients page.

Wax Melts

Wax melts offer a lovely alternative to candles but there are still care and safety considerations so please follow the instructions below.

  • Remove all outer packaging (including any ribbon or large botanicals if it is a festive wax melt)
  • Use a wax warmer designed for wax melts and in accordance with manufacturer instructions.
  • Place wax warmer on a stable, heat resistant surface
  • Place 1-2 wax melts in the well of the warmer - it is important not to overload the well to ensure when the wax has melted, it does not breach the edge of the well
  • Do not burn for more than 3-4 hours at a time
  • Never leave burning wax melts unattended
  • Keep the warmer and wax melts away from flammable items, drafts, children, pets and do not eat
  • Never add water to to the wax as this can cause it to spit
  • Wait until the wax has cooled before moving the burner or changing the wax
  • Dispose of your spent wax responsibly in accordance with your local guidelines - do not pour down the drain or put in compost.

Please see CLP label on the wax melt packaging for a full list of allergens and product ingredients.  You can also view our Product Ingredients page.
