Brass Welsh Love Spoon
A lovely vintage brass Welsh Love Spoon decorated with symbolic cut outs with a high polished finish.
The handle features hearts at the top and a keyhole shape in the centre.
Historically, young Welsh men carved ornate wooden spoons to give a women they admired to show their skill and affection. The hearts symbolise love, togetherness and a shared heart. The keyhole represents the 'key to my heart'. Brass versions were popular as 20th Century souvenirs, decorative wall hangings or traditional wedding or anniversary gifts.
The spoon is slightly misshapen as can be seen on the photo.
